Have You Ever Had The Urge To Raise Your Laptop Over Your Head and Smash It To The Floor?

FreeWay Number One saved my health and my laptop. When the stresses of life grab you by the throat, you can choose to react or respond. FreeWay Number One is a great choice everytime you feel your neck in a noose.

Let me just say that I will never buy another Dell computer. Not because they sell a bad product, because I know that my Dell laptop is a great little machine. However, as soon as my warranty was up I started having strange problems. I called Dell for support and they tried to convince me that I needed a new mother board. That just didn't smell right to me, so I declined their offer and kept working with it. An unusually knowledgable tech at Road Runner was very helpful in finding a solution to my problem WITHOUT A NEW MOTHER BOARD! Since having my Dell issue, I have heard from 2 friends who say that Dell tried to sell them unneccesary mother boards after their warranty expired as well. Hmmmmmmmm.

Getting back to my point. If their were ever a better time to practice relaxation, it is when you are about to smash that laptop into the floor. Impossible you say? Oh no, quite the contrary. Difficult, I'll give you that, but perfectly possible. When you are about to blow, ask yourself "what is my relationship with the present moment?" Author Eckhart Tolle says that we suffer when we make an enemy of the present moment. The present moment just is. It is not the enemy. It just is as it is. You don't have to appreciate what you don't like, but if you accept what exists within this moment, then you can relax and find your peaceful place. From there, you are much more likely to find a positive resolution.

Recently I have read very negative head lines about Mr. Tolle, and Oprah Winfrey for her association with him. I'd like to take this opportunity to let my readers know that the two of them have my heartfelt appreciation for offering the online webinar for A New Earth. It has helped me to be more gentle and compassionate with myself and others, AND MY LAPTOP! :)

Go get your copy of the book! http://astore.amazon.com?new_earth-20

Oprah's webinar is free and available at Oprah.com

The Best Portable Pulse Oximeter

Don't waste your money! If you need an oximeter, make sure you buy one that will actually serve you well. Now if you have money to throw around, and your health is not fragile, then a small finger unit maybe all that you need. Just remember that the type of oximeter that is completely contained on one finger may not be accurate if you have compromised circulation.

If you have advanced lung or heart disease, you can be sure that your circulation is compromised. When there is not enough oxygen in your blood, your body reduces blood flow to your extremities in an effort to protect your major organs. If your hands are frequently cold you may not get a reliable reading as well. The best idea is to bring your oximeter with you when you go to the doctor and compare the reading to your doctors oximeter. That is, if your doctor has a better quality pulse oximter. If you find that you are not getting an accurate reading, you may get better results with a higher end model. The better oximeters will have a probe that grips your finger (or ear) a little bit tighter. The most reliable reading will be obtained by using an ear probe. Your body is never stingy with oxygen and blood flow to your head!

Another thing to consider is durability. If the finger probe on a pulse oximeter is not durable, your unit will not last long. If you use it often, or travel with it, you may be throwing away money on a cheaper model.

Also keep in mind that as your disease process progresses, the accuracy of the reading becomes more important. Harmfully low blood oxygen levels (below 92%)usually occur first with activity. When this health robbing condition begins, it will quickly weaken the heart muscle. You may not see low oxygen levels (hypoxia) while the patient is at rest until the heart muscle has been harmed. Please be aware of that, and monitor yourself or your loved one carefully to assure you are using supplementing oxygen just as soon as the need arises. Dyspnea (difficulty breathing) should not be ignored. Protect your quality of life.

One last thought, if you are on home oxygen, and your budget does not allow plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, purhaps the cost of a pulse oximeter is not waranted. If you spend that money on fresh food, you may get more benefit for your buck. If your lips tend to get blue at any point during your day, use your low flow oxygen 24/7. You don't need an oximeter to tell you that. If your budget allows you all the fresh food you want, however, an oximeter could be a very valuable tool.

Just remember, the purpose of having your own personal oximeter is to more closely monitor your oxygen need. If you are using it to reduce the amount of time you supplement your oxygen, it could be more harmful than helpful.

The FreeWay 2 Health

Aloha!

The FreeWay 2 Health is the starting point to a healthier happier life style. It is not complicated or difficult to apply. Miracles can happen when you prepare yourself for the opportunities to live fully! Nobody is just lucky. It is a matter of making yourself ready.

FreeWay Number One
Make time everyday to just "be" with yourself. Relax your mind, body, and soul. Release the tension that is making you sick.

FreeWay Number Two
Work daily on strengthening the muscles that you breathe with. Utilizing all of your lung volume is the secret to length and quality of life.

FreeWay Number Three
If you don't move it you will lose it! Finding time to be active everyday should be a top priority in your life. If it isn't, what might inspire you to do so?

For 10 years I have been teaching people with compromised health and declining quality of life, that these simple basics are the beginning of a more positive attitude as well as new found energy to inspire you to be active, enjoy your loved ones, and otherwise decorate your life.

I have enjoyed watching many people use this information to ignite a flame in their lives! Teaching people to use the FreeWay 2 Health certainly won't make me rich, but it will make your life rich!

During those years, the most challenging aspect of teaching was to avoid overwhelming the student. Making changes in your life is not easy but if you start simple you'll find yourself building on your progress. One little change at a time can create massive change. Be gentle with yourself, after all we are creatures of habit. Holding yourself accountable can be done with compassion. Your thoughts can help you or hurt you.

Start each day with FreeWay One, Two, and Three. If you find it difficult to breathe at any point during your day, FIND OUT WHAT YOUR OXYGEN LEVEL IS! If it's hard to breath don't ignore it. Describe to your doctor what type of situations you typically get short of breath doing, and insist on checking your blood oxygen level with a portable pulse oximeter. For more information about dyspnea (difficulty breathing) please go to my web site

www.alohaoxygen.net/understand_dyspnea.html

One more thought to consider, will your day be even better if you SEEK the SUN, and SIP WATER all day?

Can You Sleep When You're Dead?

If you wait until you're dead to sleep, you will get there a whole lot quicker! We Americans seem to be on the FreeWay to RIP. We are proud of functioning on minimal sleep for some strange reason.

When your body tells you it's tired, you can try to argue with it by say, drinking a cup of coffee or taking a dose of sugar. What happens when the stimulant wears off? I don't need to tell you that the crash is not fun. The problem comes in when this type of remedy becomes a habit.

There is no replacement for sleep. Do you know what your body runs on? It actually runs on electricity that you generate while in deep sleep. If you aren't sleeping, you are screwing yourself out of a full tank of gas! Now some people suffer from insomnia, but most of us just have bad habits when it comes to bedtime.

Bad ideas before bed:
-coffee and other stimulants
-too much television or computer
-exercise (though if done earlier in the day it can help)

Good ideas before bed:
-warm milk or tea
-dim lighting
-reading
-warm bath or shower

The biggest obstacle to a good nights sleep, however, is simply not valuing it enough. If staying well rested is not a top priority for you, then you will find there are many distractions that will keep you out of bed. If you need motivation to make it a top priority, how about:

-Sleep will prevent colds and flu
-Sleep helps you be patient
-Sleep makes you look younger
-Sleep enables you to think more clearly
-Sleep can actually cure many diseases!

Remember if you cause a sleep debt it may take twice as many good nights sleep to make up for what you lost. If you have a significant sleep debt, it could take you a very long time to catch up! So if you are tired, GO TO SLEEP!! Allow yourself the rest you need, no matter how much that is, and you will realize how active and fun life can be no matter what age you are.

Sleep is magic. So have a nice nap!

FreeWay Number Three

Aloha,
What are we grateful for today? I am doing good to be upright and communicating at this late hour, so I am grateful for the energy to explore......

FreeWay Number 3

We are really going to get somewhere today. FreeWay number 3 is about finding an activity you love and dedicating time each week to getting out there and having fun.

Maybe there is no activity that brings fun to mind for you. Oprah says she hates to work out but does it anyway. I can't imagine! Personally I think working out is a good time, and it always leaves me feeling invigorated. What does moving look like for you? Walking up and down the hallway for 2 minutes may be as much as you can tolerate if your health is already compromised. It really doesn't matter what you do, but do something!

The thing to remember is that if you need to supplement your oxygen level when you are active, than being active without oxygen could actually hurt you. The good news is that getting your heart rate up while your oxygen level is elevated has many benefits to offer. Do a search for Exercise With Oxygen Therapy, or EWOT. There are plenty of us sold on this philosophy. Let me know who your favorite site is. I will be choosing one to link up with soon, so I'd appreciate your feedback.

There will be plenty of discussion on FreeWay Number 3 in the future here on the Alohaoxygen Blog. For now let me just stress that pain is your indicator that you have ignored your limits. If your health is compromised than you need to develope a very healthy respect for your limits and your ability to recognize them.

With that said, get out there and have FUN!

FreeWay Number Two

Aloha,
What are you grateful for today?

I am grateful for:

-laughter
-innocence
-and the beautiful cleansing rain today (wash away that vog!)

Have you taken time today to relax? I hope you enjoyed it.

Today.....

FreeWay Number Two

Most people never use the lower lobes of their lungs. The tension we talked about yesterday just won't allow the expansion of this lung tissue.

Certainly until you begin to let go of some of this stored tension, it will be difficult to make any progress in improving your lung function. If you have really given your best effort to achieving a state of relaxation, then go ahead and sigh just as deeply as you can.

Can you feel your diaphram fall? Visualize your left lower lobe inflating behind your stomach, as your right lower lobe inflates behind your liver. Pay attention and you will notice that you are pulled back as those lower lobes push your lower bowel out. Put your hand on your stomach if it helps. It may actually take some work to fully utilize your lung volume.

If you manage a good sigh 30-40 times each day, then at the very least you will strengthen your respiratory muscles. Hopefully you will improve your lung capacity as well.

Until tomorrow, relax and take a nice deep breath or two.

FreeWay Number One

Aloha,
What do you have to be grateful for today? If you can find something you are grateful for to focus on, you can begin to heal from anything.

Healing always takes its own path, and it is always a blessing.

I am very grateful for:

-the love of family
-my health and the health of those I love
-and for the opportunity to teach you what your body needs everyday!

So let's get started on the FREEWAY 2 HEALTH

FreeWay Number One

Everyday you deal with tension.

Tension from anxiety, pain, depression, heavy work and inactivity is stored in your muscles.

If you don't practice releasing the tension, then it squeezes you! You aren't able to use more than a fraction of your lungs! Intentionally release the tension everyday! Relax, that's all there is to it. If you don't, then the tension you live with will literally choke the life out of you.

The better you use your lungs, the longer you live, and the more quality your life. In this information age, the genomics labs are telling us this. We have heard this somewhere before, maybe? Isn't this message ancient?

The first step to optimizing your lung function is to RELAX!

At least 10 minutes everyday. Spoil yourself and take thirty!

Now please hear me. I am not talking sit in front of the tube. That's all well and good, but I'm talking about taking quiet time to begin or end your day. (or both) Deep relaxation only takes place with diligent practice. Use a tape or make up your own process, but it should involve quieting your mind as well as your body. If you pay attention, you will notice the stiffness giving way to an awareness of the fluidity within your body. This is a good place to be. Go there and let me know how it went.

Post your comments. It helps when you can create a community of friends who are ready and willing to do the work and share with others as they explore a new life style. There are no magic bullets. Keep doing what you are doing, and keep getting the same results. Change what you are doing and take notice of what happens.

Until tomorrow,
Carrie

Oxygen is important to your quality of life!

The oxygen level in your body is very important to maintaining your quality of life. If you don't have enough oxygen in your blood stream, your heart muscle will weaken quickly. (This is called Congestive Heart Failure) Unfortunately, many health care providers don't understand what that level needs to be, or the importance of meeting this need.

Adding to the confusion is the fact that insurance companies will not pay for oxygen until a patient reaches a level that is much lower than this optimal level.

Another problem is that most patients have a very difficult time being inconvenienced by dragging around an oxygen tank. If you need oxygen while you are walking, it won't help you unless you use it while you are walking.

The exciting part is that the human body is truly capable of miraculous healing! If you give your body what it needs, and minimize what you are doing to harm your body,

YOUR BODY WILL AMAZE YOU!!!!!!
Just imagine, you have the power to heal!
